Keys To A Healthy Self-Image

There's been a lot of talk in the media about self-image lately, and it's a very important issue to address with youth. "Image" is a lot more than just how someone looks. It's the mental picture someone has of themselves. It's their perceptions of who they are. It's the key to whether someone has self-confidence, or suffers from low self-esteem. Someone with a positive self-image can see their assets first, and their liabilities second. While someone with a low self-image tends to focus on their imperfections and dwell on what they don't like about themselves. In the past when people considered the issue of "self-image" they tended to focus on teen girls, but studies are beginning to show that boys are just as concerned about their image and share many of the same fears. Here are just a few of the "image" issues facing youth today:

Body Image: When you look into the mirror do you make positive statements about your appearance or practice negative self-talk? Practice appreciating your body now.

Social Media Illusion: Why do all of the people on social media look flawless? How come they always appear to be having the time of their lives? Look behind the mask of how those images are created.

Mind and Body Connection: How you feel on the inside directly affects how you look on the outside. Create an inner glow for outer beauty.
